Wedding Dress Cleaning Service

A wedding gown is the most emotive and probably the most expensive garment a woman will ever purchase.  The moment you find the right dress you will ‘just know it’.  You will have it fitted perfectly to your body and when you pick it up from your ‘couturier ‘ it will be protected by a gown cover and hung safely until your big day.

Here at Clean and Press we believe that care of your dress should not stop once you have worn it.  Indeed, we believe that to keep your dress in the best possible condition it is very important that you have it cleaned as soon as possible after your wedding.  But we know that as a very busy bride with guests to attend to and a honeymoon to go on you probably won’t have time to drop your dress into your local dry cleaners.

That is why we have created our Wedding Care Package.   We will do all of the hard work for you.  All you have to do is call us a couple of weeks before your wedding and we will organise the rest:

  • We will send you a postage box to pack your dress in once you are ready to send it to us
  • You give your boxed dress to your mum or a bridesmaid or a friend
  • We will arrange a collection from your nominated person as soon as possible
  • On receipt of your dress we will inspect every inch, pre-treat and dry-clean
  • Once we are satisfied that we have removed as many  of the stains as possible we will hand finish your dress.
  • If you have asked for an acid free long term storage box we will pack your dress carefully with acid free tissue paper into one of our beautiful ‘Special Day Boxes’.
  • Your dress will then be carefully packed into a postal box and returned to you (or your nominated person) via our fully insured courier service.

Our Wedding Care Package is a unique offering from Clean and Press designed to take a little of the stress away from you.    Budgeting for your big day can be a little hit and miss.  With our Wedding Care Package you know exactly where you stand and you can factor in the cleaning of your dress from the outset.

Tips for Care of your Dress

Before you Buy

  • Always check that your dress can be cleaned.  Some dresses now being imported are giving instructions that they cannot be dry cleaned OR washed
  • If your dress has had beads or sequins added AFTER it was tailored check that this does not affect the cleaning instructions on the care label.  Some beads and sequins can ‘melt’ when put into cleaning solvents. Please take extra care if any beads are added.
  • Always store your dress away from light as UV rays can cause dyes in the fabric to become unstable and run when cleaned.

On your Wedding Day

  • If you should spill something on your dress NEVER rub it.  Blot the stain with a colour free napkin.  Rubbing causes damage to the fabric and can result in faded areas after cleaning.
  • Most of all enjoy your day and don’t worry too much about your dress – let us do that for you afterwards!

After Your Wedding Day

  • Have your dress cleaned as soon as possible after your big day.  Stains that are left on fabrics can oxidise and cause long term damage that is (unfortunately) irreversible.
  • If you plan to keep your dress for posterity store it in an acid free container (an acid free box or dress cover) away from damp and light.  The attic is not the best place to keep it but in the top of your wardrobe or under you bed would be ideal.
